The book is an excellent place to start if you are planning on opening a retail store. I think it's important to be aware and familiar with all aspects of retailing. Just as the back cover of the book says, it is "the perfect learning tool for opening a new store or renovating one". This book takes you through such steps such as negotiating a retail lease, working with designers, store layout options, ceilings, lighting, signs, walls, construction and remodeling, etc... The author also gives you estimates of what you might expect to spend, what you can expect from a design firm, and contract samples. There are also different types of floor plans and designs shown in the book.

Funny stories along with the serious war accounts. Fascinating reading

Grant and tells the story of Tiffany Spratt, the popular star of a high school cheerleading squad who experienced one terrible day that sent her social life plummeting to the status of "reject of the Universe." Yet with help of her friends, her family, and her faith, Tiffany finds the inner strength to eventually earn success. An upbeat, cheerful, and vibrant novel, The Cannibals is highly recommended reading and would make a welcome addition to school and community library fiction collections for adolescent and young adult readers.

As the author of this guide, I am partial to thinking IT IS THE BEST guide to Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, and Nantucket. This is the definitive look at the last year of General Grant. Pitkin writes well and the book is well-researched, factual and reliable. The narrative begins when Grant bites into a peach in the summer of 1884 and thinks an insect has stung him in the throat. In fact this was the first signal that he was suffering from throat cancer. Pitkin guides the reader through the maze of pain and suffering Grant endured while writing his magnificent memoirs. You will learn about his near-death episode in April, 1885 when the doctors believed he was about to die. Instead Grant miraculously ralied and lived another three months, enough time to complete his book.

Also included are descriptions of the important personal relationships in Grant's life. You will meet his four children, his devoted wife, and Mark Twain, the man who adored Grant and who became his publisher. Anyone who reads this book will come away with a renewed appreciation for Grant's valor, courage and tremendous ability to withstand pain in order to provide a financial legacy to his destitute family. I highly recommend this book, it's exceptional.

The most comprehensive Cary Grant filmography available, including a chapter-long informative biography. From his earliest stage appearances to cameos after he retired, this book lists them, even to include a chronology of the significant events in his life. Stage, film, radio, television, magazines, books, records ... if Cary did it, you'll most likely find it listed.

You'll find info on the casts, dates, studios, directors, crews, plot synopsis, reviews and commentaries on all his films. The commentaries often include information about the making of the film, choice of stars, profitability, working relationships, and events that occurred in Cary's life during the making of the film.

I'd call Buehrer's book my Cary Grant encyclopedia. Probably the book I turn to most often. If you want a comprehensive guide to Cary's work, this is it. You won't find better.

One note: While this book IS the ultimate Cary Grant reference book, it is not a Cary Grant photo book. There are very few photos. If you're looking for a great Cary Grant photo book to drool over, get "Cary Grant: A Life in Pictures" by Jenny Curtis.
